Kansas City, MO, November 7, 2014: The 2015 Western will be in Kansas City, returning to Downtown to Crown  Center  Exhibit  Hall  &  the  Sheraton  Kansas  City  Hotel  at  Crown  Center  (formerly  the  Hyatt Regency).    “This summer, The Huffington  Post named Kansas City the ‘coolest’ city in America and the World Series has just made the spotlight brighter.  Kansas City, it seems, has a whole new reputation. It’s a hidden gem, the place to visit, the new “it” town.” (Kansas City Public Media).    So come enjoy the city and The Western!

To  explore  the  coolest  spots  in Downtown  KC  “Western  Trolleys”  will  drop-off  and  pick  up  at local restaurants  and bars on Sunday evening.   The “loop” will include Arthur Bryants BBQ, Gates BBQ, Jack Stack BBQ, McFadden’s  Sports Saloon (where the Royals drank beer with their fans), KC jazz at Green Lady Lounge, authentic Germanic cuisine at Grunauer, Lidia’s (one of the best loved chefs on television), and the Cashew in a four-story, hundred year old building.

A very special 125th Anniversary Celebration Reception will be held on Saturday evening, January 3rd. The Western Trade Show will open at 8 a.m. both Sunday and Monday with exhibitors representing 23 States.  Registration to The  Western  includes  access  to  new  suppliers, education  to  help  you  be successful, networking opportunities and beer!

Interactive Learning Centers will be offered by Bailey Nurseries, Ball Horticultural, Green Gate Farms, Greenleaf Nursery Co., Honey Creek Nursery, KAT Nurseries, Loma Vista Nursery and PlantRight/Schwope Brothers Tree Farms.   Topics include Managing Labor for Profitability, Win the Battle of the Bugs, Live Walls, Gardening for Guys, Edible Solutions are Here to Stay, among many others.

Dr. Michal Dirr will return to the Western in Celebration of the 125th Anniversary.    Dr. Dirr will present “The Sun Never Sets on New Plant Introductions:   Searching the Globe for the Best of the New” on Sunday morning January 4.    Thanks to Bailey Nurseries for their support to bring Dr. Dirr to the Western and for hosting him in the Bailey Nurseries Learning Center.

The Western University returns to the 2015 Western, thanks to the generous support of KAT Nurseries and the dedication of Dr. Jason Griffin.   Dr. Tom Ranney, Professor Department of Horticultural Science North Carolina State University, will present on Monday January 5 as part of Western University.

New plants from Spring Meadow Nursery, Walters Gardens, Upshoot, Star Roses and Plants/The Conard- Pyle Company, Garden Debut, Flemings Flower Fields, Ball Ornamentals & Ball Ingenuity will rock the runway of the 2015 Fashion Show of New Plants on Sunday.   Don’t miss the special five little princesses on the runway!   On Monday learn more about each new plant direct from the grower at “A New Plant Palette of Fashion Show Plants.”    Thanks to American Nurseryman for their continued support of the Fashion Show of New Plants.
